Born Rival celebrates film culture and the use of the visual medium to form expression. It’s our belief that a camera is the vehicle; an invitation to travel, explore, learn, and grow as an individual and as a collective.

Driven by process, we embrace the journey and allow our narrative to be shaped by the people & places we encounter. Our product is an extension of our storytelling, which we hope inspires others to lead a life through a worldly lens.

Allowing ourselves to follow the curiosity of our lenses can take us across the globe. It can connect us with people we might not have otherwise interacted with. It can widen our perspective, deepen our understanding, and humble us for the grater good. All because we decided to pickup a camera.

Backstory

We are brothers and collaborators, for as long as we can remember. We’ve spent the better part of the last decade and a half working in the film industry, pursuing our interest in capturing images and telling stories through personal and professional endeavors. Through this time, we realized that there wasn’t a brand out there that spoke to us as filmmakers and photographers. So we set out to create a company that was inspired by the feeling we get traveling through this world with a camera in our hand.

We picked up our first MiniDV camera to film each other snowboarding and surfing. The independent spirit and notion of going against the grain that is common in many of these board sports has had a great influence in shaping what Born Rival has become.

We make purposeful garments with functional elements designed with the visual artist in mind. We manufacture almost everything right here in the USA. We care deeply about the film community and make efforts to support and encourage collaboration amongst us all. We do this because we love it, through and through.

Small batch. Big dreams. We are an upstart brand that is committed to making our products domestically. This isn't the easy route, but if we’re going to put on our name on a product we want to stand behind it, full stop.

Caps, tops, and bottoms are MADE IN NYC.

Tees and fleece are MADE IN LA.

New York and Los Angeles are the cultural hubs for film/photo production. Whether you work there, live there, or aspire to one day visit these cities, they provide an endless source of inspiration for us all. We wanted to tap into that pulse and make our products where it's all happening. We believe when you put on a Born Rival garment and look on the inside tag, you'll feel a certain way knowing where it comes from.
